Taking Back Moral Power

The fiction in this edition of the Jabberwock is filled with themes of taking back power and morality. The characters are driven by the desire to take the power back and be in control of themselves. These narratives parallel many that we see in our own lives as people strive to be heard in a world made for the lucky few. The stories also explore what it means to be a morally good person. This tension is the central element of the stories, particularly Sahra Ismail’s “The Throne” as characters  try to balance how far they should go for the greater good. While these pieces are set in worlds that most of us are unfamiliar with, many of the conflicts that the characters face reflect our own struggles to gain control without sacrificing what is most important to us.
